Amazing!
Everything from booking to check out (and waving bye to the house) was really smooth! The property itself is spectacular and the views from every window in the house takes your breath away. I forgot how many photos I took just of the Loch in the morning or late evening. The rooms are cosy, the facilities are excellent and the wine on arrival made it feel like a special weekend. We're already looking to book up again this year! I guarantee anyone who stays here will NOT be disappointed.

Fantastic location
Perfect location to visit some of the best attractions of the island: Quiraing, old man of Storr, Jurassic coast. The cottage is very well equipped with a surprisingly good WiFi. Every room with a beautiful view of the Loch.

Simply Amazing
We stayed here for a week and were simply blown away. Lochside is a great property to stay in. Everything that you would need for a week self catering (not including your food and drink) were provided. The views from Just about every windows are amazing. The property is warm. The Sofa and chairs are so comfortable as are the beds. The bath and the view from the window are simply amazing. The toiletries smell great (we have already bought some on our way home). It's very well situated for exploring the north end of the island. We did a bit of walking and a lot of driving but we loved every minute of being here.

We hadn't originally booked lochside, however due to an unfortunately double booking, we were offered it as an alternative. The cottage is amazing - quiet with a lovely view of the loch an local sheep/lambs. Ben and his team were so helpful and everything was in order for our stay. we only wish we could have stayed longer.

Brilliant House and holiday
Lochside is a very well appointed house, in a stunning location. Very private and has tremendous views. The house was very clean on arrival. In fact very helpfully we received a text to let us know that the house was ready for us ....one hour earlier than stated. Ben, who manages the renting of the house was very professional, personable and promptly responsive to our communications with him. Our stay in Lochside contributed to a fantastic holiday on Skye. Awesome scenery, the house was a little difficult to find but we did arrive after dark, which we weren’t expecting to do. About 16 miles back into Portree which is a nice village where the Arona cafe is definitely worth a visit for breakfast / coffee. The roads get a little dicey if you head north of staffin but an adventure

An amazing week at Lochside
This was our second time at Lochside in as many years and it was even better than the first time. The property was really clean and tidy when we arrived. The weather was very good and the views are simply stunning (i could stare out at the loch all day and night) Ben and his team are fab. We were informed before we arrived of a small issue and it was dealt with in good time without any disruption. What really topped this stay was that half way through our stay i got an alert on my phone that the Aurora may be visible, so we rushed outside (in shorts and a tee shirt) and sure enough we got some stunning pictures of the aurora (it was also visible with the naked eye). It was absolutley amazing to see. We will be back here in the future i can guarantee it.

We loved our stay at Lochside. The home had everything we needed and it was so beautifully decorated. We loved the view and the quiet of the loch and it was the perfect place to explore Skye from. Ben was so helpful and we had got all our questions answered! We would highly recommend.

Lochside - great location for exploring Skye
The Lochside house is well located and a nice quiet place from which to explore the Trotternish peninsula of Skye. Beautiful view through large windows. The house was spotless. A problem was that there were no instructions for managing any of the equipment --- including the heat. Several amenities were not functional (e.g., a CD player with DVD disks). The exhaust fan developed an annoying tick sound and flashing light which was difficult to turn off, and appeals to the management company (through email) were not answered. In summary, with some updating and information for visitors, the rating for Lochside would be easily improved since the location is great.

This property is absolutely FANTASTIC! It had just one review hence we were at first hesitant to book it but we had to choose this property because Portree was fully booked AND we are thrilled that we ended up booking this property! We had arrived at the property already in a buoyant mood after the stunning drive that leads to this small town Staffin where the property is located. Upon arriving we were totally floored by the serene breathtaking beauty all around us . It’s in a solitary location but Scotland is so safe that the solitude actually is welcome . The property inside was spotlessly clean and completely 5 Star quality ! Outstanding ! I wish we had stayed 3 nights We intend to return . Ben himself was v welcoming and helpful. The is a great place to stay. The house is located on a small loch with beautiful views out every window. It's very private and quiet, but still close to the main road. It is a beautiful house - very comfortable and clean. It's about a 30 minute drive to the main city of Portree, so stock up on breakfast and supplies before go. But it's such a nicer place to stay than Portree, and you will end up driving up there for the sights anyway. About 15 minutes north is the Flodigary Hotel which is quite stately and services food in an elegant restaurant to a great bar. This is a very nice alternative to driving down to Portree for dinner. There is also the Skye Pie House near by but we did not go. Stop by the Blue Skye Gallery very near the house for sure! We thought this was the best place we stayed in Scotland. Highly recommend.

The location of the house is very easy to find, there is a clear sign at the door, and the beautiful loch and farm cute sheep are in front of the door. The room was very warm and everything was very well equipped. We also lit the fireplace ourselves, a very rare experience. The living room and dining room on the first floor were very comfortable. The 2 bedrooms on the second floor were also very clean and I liked it very much. When I left, I met the landlord, a very thoughtful and handsome British guy. Be sure to come again next time!

Lochside is a perfect stop for a car available Visitor to Skye. The house is set up perfectly for two couples or family. Prompt replies from Ben or John when communicating make things easy. Nice touches like the tablet by the television to book in and get video instructions on items like heating controls, wifi or kitchen items. All new kitchen equipment including dishwasher and Washer/Drier. Even a nice bottle of wine, fresh flowers on the table and the wood stove already to light with more wood and fire-starters. We will be back to Lochside.

This is an amazing property on Isle of Skye. My family and I highly recommend. Suitable for several nights or several weeks. 5 Star. Spotlessly clean. Well appointed. Easy to use kitchen. Amazing bathrooms. Comfortable living room. Great communication. And a welcoming bottle of Chardonnay. The location is ideal: 5 minutes from Kilt Rock, 10 min from Quiraing, and about 25 min from the amazing Old Man of Storr. About 30 minutes to Portree for groceries and nice pubs. We stayed in 30+ AirBnb and this was the best. Highly recommend ... I will come back.

We stayed 2 nights at Lochside and loved it. Being the middle of winter the weather wasn’t the kindest to us, but it was the perfect cosy warm setting to relax and enjoy the Island. The location is beautiful and so peaceful and the house is very well equipped, a great size and clean. The wood fire was amazing to sit beside while the rain poured down outside. We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay on Skye.

If you are looking for a cozy, modern home in a secluded lochside location, then this is it! It has obviously been refurbished very recently. Check-in was a breeze and the home was warm when we arrived (thank you for that). You absolutely must make use of the upstairs bathroom with its freestanding tub. When you’ve finished soaking, your feet will be met by the heated tiles. Absolute heaven! Our favorite stay of this vacation!

This house is one of the best parts of our stay. After hiking around and looking at the sites, this was the perfect oasis to come back to and rest. Each bedroom was super comfortable and overall space was very well designed in a modern simplicity that was a great backdrop to the rest of the picturesque town. The best part was the amazing tub with heated floors and heated towel rack. Having a nice soak after a long day of walking around was great. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Skye.

The location for this property is perfectly situated on Isle of Skye. There was a stocked kitchen with things to cook on and with, although if there was added to the instructional video for the oven the basic setting, that would be helpful. There is a tablet with a guide on it, to how to work everything in the house to what to see and do, to ordering take away. The only faults I would say is the uncomfortablemaster mattress, more blinds, and needing a flat baking sheet to cook on. Those 2 minor things would not keep me from renting Lochside again. We loved the sheep out front and out back. Thanks Ben!

While the pictures on the site are fantastic, the property is way better when seen. The location is outstanding and is perfectly situated in a secluded area by Loch Mealt, but close enough to the highway to get the day started touring the isle. The hosts are very attentive and always available.

I'm going to quote other people here: The pictures do not do the home justice. From start to finish, when we were sadly waving bye to the house, communication with the host was smooth and they were quick to reply to any questions (and not mock me for how silly some of them were). The property itself has two lovely bathrooms, all have modern facilities and the bath on the second floor is to die for. There is plenty of space in both bedrooms. The kitchen/dining area is cosy and the hosts provide you with dishwasher tablets/laundry tablets/kitchen roll/oil etc. Little things that I'd taken up "just in case" were no longer needed and stayed in the boot of the car. A great way to wind down was to get the other half to pop the wood burning fire on, get a cuppa or a glass of wine and just watch the sky change outside. I really can't say anything negative. Thank you again for making this a wonderful weekend!

This property is perfect, looks even better than on the pictures. Clean, modern, light and airy. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds nice and comfortable. Both bathrooms are gorgeous with a huge bath tub in one and a waterfall shower in the other. Kitchen is a good size and stocked with all necessities. Lovely log fire in the living room and comfy furniture. Beautiful loch practically on the doorstep of the property and it was lovely to watch the sun set over it. Located just outside of Staffin, it’s a 20 minute walk to the Kilt rock tourist attraction and about an hours scenic walk to the dinosaur footprint beach. A car is a necessity but within easy driving distance to attractions like The Storr and the Quiraing. In fact all the major tourist attractions are within a 2 hour drive from the house. We would absolutely stay here again, we had such a great time in Skye and we loved coming back to this property after a long day of walking.

The house is in a great location - it is towards the top area of Skye and very close to places such as the Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, and Kilt rock. It is about 30 minutes drive from Portree or 5 minutes drive from Staffin. We actually drove from the flat to Uig as well - which is extremely scenery. The house itself is in front of a lake - we enjoyed looking at the lake both during meal times and bath times - it was beautiful. SSA is very responsible and communicates well - sometimes too formal but I think that’s because it is a company run property rather than personal one. The house is in a great condition as well - has all the essential appliances and very clean. It is a nice and cozy place - will definitely want to go back at some stage soon.

I am happiest to have chosen this property for my 4 nights stay! I have been to Skye 4 times, but never have stayed in a location such as Lochside :) You can spot it from Kilt Rock waterfalls. Perfect location...it is just you, the lake and serenity! Boasts some of the most beautiful views from the bedrooms, living rooms, kitchen and basically everywhere! Large sized bedrooms and plenty of storage! Photos don't do justice..highly recommended..I literally waved goodbye to Lochside..Loved it and will surely return during the summers!

Fantastic visit to Lochside -- what else can I say? Location is idyllic, perfect to the best parts of Skye and convenient to Portree as well. The views and finishing touches were perfect. Kitchen was ideal for cooking with all expected amenities, wifi was strong, and the views all around were surreal. It was a pleasant surprise to have sheep front and back in the fields! Positive: The surroundings are so beautiful and the house so well equipped that one doesn't really want to go outside. The bathtub is lush and the fireplace is perfect to warm up at after a day of hiking. Everything one could possibly need was provided for. A very important point for us was the washer/dryer which worked well. We had some issues with a clogged bathroom sink. However, our complaint was handled in a wonderful manner. In fact, I have never seen a complaint handled that well. We received some beautiful flowers, a card and a bottle of wine as an apology and someone came over and sorted the problem. I really cannot recommend this place enough. Negative: The bath plug is a bit difficult to use. Parking a larger car requires some going back and forth .

The bath needs a mention as it's amazing, and the view from the window is perfect when you go for a bath. recommended! Negative: only little things that bothered us was no firelighters for the wood burner when we got there. there was a box but no lighters in them! Also a silly thing, no potato masher so if you're cooking, bring your own. Also it does have wifi but it's not very fast, perhaps that's just the broadband speed on the island i'm not sure.

Negative: Leider war das Internet sehr langsam und brach ständig zusammen. Handyempfang ist auch nur sporadisch vorhanden. Die Matratze des Doppelbetts überzeugte durch harte Federn, die durchdrücken. Dennoch trüben diese Punkte nicht den tollen Gesamteindruck.

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was such a unique, beautiful location. Seeing sheep in the front yard in front of the loch was a special experience! The communication was very quick and the checkin process was clear and simple. One thing to keep in mind is that you have to drive down a short distance on a single lane gravel road to get to the location and then onto a fairly long driveway to the entrance of the house. It would be easy to turn around or navigate in a smaller vehicle but being in a large SUV made it hard to back out and drive back on to the highway each day! Would still recommend staying here for the beautiful location!

Phenomenal! This place was remote enough to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Isle of Skye but close enough to the main things we wanted to visit. This includes being a 25 minute drive from Portree for restaurants and shopping, 5 minutes from Staffin for a convenience store and beach walk, across the Loch from Kilt Rock view point, and 10-15 minutes from what I would consider the best activity in Isle of Skye, the Quiraing hike. Additionally, you have views from all windows of the house and can watch the landscape, sheep, and the sunrise from the kitchen window. Host was very responsive and helpful. We will miss this place!

Loch watching in comfort
Positive: This is a lovely self-catering cottage on a Loch. Although it seemed far from everything on Skye, it wasn't, as you have to drive everywhere in any case! The view from the cottage is magnificent and we were within walking distance of Kilt Rock, weather permitting! The house is extremely comfortable for 4 people and very well appointed. We would definitely stay there again on a future visit. Thank you to the prompt service by the handyman in doing some minor repairs. Negative: Nothing!

Fab 10 Nights
We had a great 10 nights at Lochside. This is our Fourth time and we are back for no 5 very soon. Lochside is so tranquil and the view is amazing over the loch. The weather wasn't great but it did not stop us doing what we wanted and even on the day the rain was coming down side ways the view over the loch is amazing. We had a couple of issues that were resolved by the team as quickly as possible and as usual we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lochside and Skye serviced accommodation to anyone.

Truly beautiful location. The house was cosy, snug and is really nicely/tastefully furnished. Kitted out with everything you might need. The sunrises over the water are gorgeous. We saw buzzards wheeling over the loch and a heron on our last morning. It’s very tranquil and a brilliant place to chill.

Excellent 6 Nights
Had another fantastic stay at Lochside. This property is fantastic. Ideally located in a quiet location near to the small loch. We love coming here and we are sure to be back soon. Everything you need to prepare food is available (make sure you get our supplies in Portree before you head up, there is a small store in Staffin for milk and other bits and pieces). It's easy to get to most places from the property in the car. About a 30min drive back down to Portree. The Quaraing is a 10 min drive and is well worth a few visits. We are looking forward to our next visit to Skye and to Lochside.

The house has been beautifully renovated, but the best aspect is its location - no neighbours (other than sheep !), overlooking a loch, superbly quiet - a wonderful place to get away from it all. It is about a half hour drive north of Portree - which is a very scenic drive unto itself, and certainly worth the drive. A wonderful place to stay - we'd return anytime.

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage in Staffin. The property is easy to find and on a quiet back road with wonderful loch views. It is fully stocked, comfortable, and clean. Everything exceeded expectations. Great location for hiking in Skye and about 25 min to Portree.

This was a fabulous house. The views were amazing. Do keep in mind, it is a distance from Portree. Not too far for a visit, but not great for dinner with drinks. There was a nice little market in Staffin to grab things without heading to Portree. Best thing was being able to visit the falls across the street after the crowds have gone. We had it all to ourselves! House had all we needed, including a wonderful little chicken that stopped by daily to visit!

The property is superbly located on a loch and has a great view. Ideal for trips to Quiraing and Old Man of Storr. Kilt Rock is within walking distance but was closed during our stay due to building work. The house was well equipped and had everything you could wish for. If I come back to Skye some day, I would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed the stay! The accommodations were perfect and cozy for the three of us girls. Loved the bathtub especially, as well as the unbeatable view across the small lake. We saw a stunning double rainbow over the lake! Only small complaint was the speed of the internet, which was not great for us as digital nomads who are always working as we travel. Not a concern if you're not trying to work, since we also enjoyed the puzzles and cozy fireplace!

The house is very clean and welcoming (a bottle of wine is left on the table). It has a very nice location, at the north of Skye in a lovely place (view on a lake behind the sea, surrounded by sheeps). It has a great TV for the evenings with Netflix and a nice kitchen (there is not much in the area, so it is nice to be able to cook in the evenings). Great walks in the area (10 min by car), and of course a nice bath tub with a view on the lake for the after-walk. We had a great time and strongly recommend this place,
