Wonderful stay at Beachcomber Cottage
We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay on Skye. A great location for getting around the island and a lovely view. The cottage had absolutely everything we needed and more. We loved the book and games collection, and there was everything we needed for cooking as well. Would love to stay here again. Thank you for everything!

Beautiful cottage in a quiet location. Has everything you could need including lots of books, games and DVD’s for rainy days. Well equipped kitchen. 2 great bedrooms and a good size bathroom. Would have no qualms revisiting or recommending Beachcomber Cottage.

Perfect stay and beautiful location
Thank you so much for a perfect stay in your shore side cottage at Waternish. We absolutely loved it and were sad to have to leave. The cottage was a perfect base for us to visit relatives safely on the island and gave us the chance to have a mini holiday of our own. We couldn’t have booked better weather and experienced 3 amazing sunsets from the bottom of the garden. The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed. The bottle of wine was also a lovey touch. Thank you! Fantastic correspondence from the owners and we would definitely be back again if we get the opportunity. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Fantastic
We had a fantastic stay in beachcomber cottage. The view from the cottage and the little garden is just stunning. We enjoyed sitting out and watching the sunset. Shame the stein Inn was closed during our stay as it would have been nice to visit there but it means we will just need to come back and stay in beachcomber again. Fantastic location, cosy cottage and beautiful views. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in the beautiful island of Skye.

Perfectly located cosy cottage
Stein is a great location with the local Inn, Michelin starred restaurant and lovely loch views. The cottage is next door to the restaurant (book very early to avoid disappointment!). It was well equipped and we particularly enjoyed sitting in the front garden watching the comings and goings of the local lobster fisherman. Great communications with the owners throughout. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

This place is even cuter in person. We got in really, really late, and we were able to get the key via lockbox. That made it very convenient for our extended road trip from Edinburgh so we can see as much as possible. But it's nearly pitch black at the cottage, so we couldn't see our surroundings until the morning. It was like waiting to open presents Christmas morning. I was so excited and so in love with with view. It was breathtaking. And, the cottage has everything you could possibly need, especially if you want to just have a lazy day: books, TV, radio, wireless speaker, heated bed setup, blow dryer (this really came in handy), fireplace, washer/dryer, and many other things. It was also a very nice touch that the host left a bottle of wine for us so we can enjoy after our voyage. I can 100% say that I would definitely stay here again. It was the best place out of all the places we stayed on our 10-day journey through Europe. Thank you for letting us stay here. 😊

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. It was a great location and just the perfect place to come back to after a day of activity. It had everything we needed and more! The kitchen has every appliance you could need for cooking, and the living room was so cozy with the fire (especially nice after a day of hiking). The rooms were perfect as well, and the hosts provided information and directions for everything. The area was absolutely beautiful. Would love to stay here again!

We are a family of 4 (kids 4 & 20 months) staying at the house, it was perfect for our 3 night trip before we headed onto Harris. The accommodation was accurate as described. Games, DVD's and books for those rainy days... although we were lucky that we had none! As we went end of September its cool in the evening so we would suggest taking slippers... the floors are cold, or you can buy them from the Sheep Skin shop up the hill behind the accommodation. Waternish is only 20 mins away from Dunvegan (Three Chimmneys) and its the perfect spot to be located if you want something tranquil but be driving distance to local stores etc. The ferry to Harris is only a 20 min drive and Portree also very close 45 mins or so. The yurt coffee & tea is just behind the hill in Waternish and wee found this a secret spot with amazing artisan coffee, cake & soup!! Also right next to the sheep skin shop which is beautiful with local sheep skin & gifts. (and slippers) We would definitely recommend Beachcomber Cottage and hope to return.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning secluded location. We had great weather and really appreciated all of the outdoor space there -- including the front garden which looks directly on to the loch. The cottage is spacious, clean and cosy and we had everything we needed. It is a 30 minute drive from Portree so make sure you stock up on food in advance (there might be a shop closer but we didn't check!) There are two restaurants on the same street so that is handy if you want to eat out (the restaurant next door has a Michelin star!). There is no phone reception in Waternish but the cottage obviously has wifi if you need to get in contact with the outside world. The hosts were really helpful. It was a pretty perfect stay and we would definitely go again.

The bedrooms had heating blankets which was very nice after a long hike in the rain :) there was a bottle of wine for us when we arrived. I could definitely recommend to stay here.

What a wonderful place to stay. A gorgeous cottage in the most idyllic setting. Fantastically equipped and tastefully furnished could have just moved in and stayed. Glorious location especially when the sun shone. The garden overlooking the bay was an unexpected extra bonus. Enjoyed a bbq (we brought our own) before the midge drove us inside to enjoy the very comfortable lounge well equipped with books and dvds. Would love to come again.

Positive: Beautiful quiet location overlooking the loch; the cottage was peaceful, warm and homely and the perfect place to relax after a day exploring. All equipment worked and whilst we did not meet the host, we had excellent communication by text. We found the location perfect for exploring but also getting away from it all. Negative: Not related to the cottage but unfortunately the pub was closed and the restaurant had limited bookings due to Covid. It is worth making bookings for places to eat in advance, particularly as there are so many excellent places to eat on Skye!

A Romantic Spot in Stein
Positive: What we most liked about this cottage was the kitchen. It's fully equipped, and there's a big fridge! Perfect for cooking. The washing machine also has a dryer, which was very handy during the stay. Each bed also had a bed warmer - loved it. The cottage also has a stunning garden overlooking the shore. Stein is not the best location however to explore the whole of Isle of Skye, but we personally liked staying here because after the hike, we would come back home and be in a different scenery away from the mountains. The cottage is tucked away along the shores far north of Isle of Skye and we were lucky enough to see glimpses of dolphins, dark skies, milky ways and shooting stars. The place is also well known for viewing Northern Lights! There are also local fishmongers you can contact and get fresh fish from! Negative: The nearest big supermarket is in Portree which is about 40mins drive. Beware of the midges! As soon as you step out of the door, swarm of midges would stick to your face. We couldn't make the best use of the lovely garden because of the midges. Only when there was moderate breeze, we were able to use the garden. The cottage can also get quite cold, the heating is programmed so we were not allowed to adjust the temperature. Our host however was able to provide our needs by supplying us with some freestanding heaters. Thank you!

Charming place in distant part of Skye
Positive: This cottage belongs to a string of holiday cottages on the waterfront between the Stein Inn and Loch Bay, the Michelin restaurant right next door in Stein (Waternish). Although it certainly wasn't cheap, the property is very well appointed, with a particularly stunning view from the (extremely comfortable) double bed onto the sea and excellent video explanations of the house's various features. There is another spacious bedroom with two twin beds, and the garden area across the street from the house would be a joy to use for meals in good weather. The kitchen has almost everything one needs (to be picky, we only missed a steamer and a salad spinner), including several unexpected items. The washer/drier, dish washer, and other appliances worked perfectly, although I never mastered the connection to the Bluetooth speaker. The property has an impressive collection of maps and ideas for walks, as well as books about Skye but also general novels. The decor is very tasteful. The bottle of white wine on arrival was a nice gesture. The walls are apparently very thick: we heard no noise whatsoever from the neighbours, except from their shower. On a clear day, a walk to the top of the road should enable one to see a glorious sunset. One evening, a three-mast sailing ship anchored in the bay! Found the staff and others at the Stein Inn very welcoming. Although there are good things to do in the vicinity (Dunvegan Castle, Coral Beach, walk to lighthouse at the tip of Waternish ...), do plan to do a fair amount of driving from this location: Portree is some 30-40 minutes away, as are the Cuillins and the Quiraing. Negative: The lower floor in particular is a bit dark, and the location is not quite as restful as one might expect: especially in the evening there are several visitors driving through because of the pub + restaurant, while deliveries come by during the day. The bathroom upstairs is very nice and has a good (but not excellent) shower: the water pressure seems to be a bit low. Be aware that the nearest food shop is in Dunvegan, a 15-minute drive away. Visitors interested in eating at Loch Bay (the Michelin-star restaurant next door) are advised to book as early as possible: we weren't able to get a place, and they are booked up months in advance. Because of the kelp under the water, fishing from the shore is not a successful experience. On the other hand, had a nice chat with the fisherman who traps lobsters and langoustines in the bay.

Perfect property in a heavenly location.
Positive: Beachcomber cottage is quite simply perfect! the location is stunning, the drive down from the Main road is around 4-5 miles along a single track road ( loads of passing places don't worry) and the views of Waternish and in particular Stein from the top of the hill is a tremendous welcome. The cottage itself is delightful , incredibly comfortable, well equipped and tastefully presented. we were very lucky with the weather and found the bench outside the front door to be the best spot for simply watching the view, chatting with both the locals and other people staying in Stein and enjoying dinner and a glass of wine before wandering to the jetty to see the most beautiful sunsets. A quick word for the management company Skye Serviced Accommodation, the service they delivered was excellent. From a call on the day of check in to inform of us the the smallest of issues ( unnecessary but really appreciated ) to the catch up mid week on updates and the information provided ahead of check in. Apologies I cannot remember the name of the lady that rang me but she was lovely and offered great service so thank you. Negative: can't think of a single thing!

Positive: Die Unterkunft befindet sich in einer Sackgasse, dem zu Folge ist es sehr ruhig. Eine Slipanlage befindet sich unmittelbar am Ende des Zuweges. Stein Inn liegt ein paar Häuser weiter. Nach einem erlebnisreichen Tag im kleinen gemütlich warmen Wohnzimmer Pläne für den nächsten Tag schmieden, so vergehen die Tage viel zu schnell. Great traditional cottage in a fab location
Positive: Beautiful traditional cottage, down by a beautiful Loch, very well presented, very clean and a bottle of wine to welcome us. Fab location with beautiful views of the Loch and a very nice fish restaurant next door and a good pub a short walk away. Negative: Very little to dislike about this cottage, my only comment is the lock to the front door was very stiff and difficult to use.

Positive: Very nice and freshly renovated cottage. Everything was clean and comfortable. Excellent and fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and washing / drying machine. Location is excellent - close to the beach. Pub nearby and a restaurant with a Michelin star (which was however fully booked for the next few weeks - so no chance to dine there). Nice views from the upper floor. we did not meet the hosts, but they took a lot of effort in explaining everything through a small tablet that is available in the living room. Negative: No shopping facilities nearby - better stock up your food before you arrive.

Wonderful location and cute cottage, would go again when possible.
Positive: The location was spectacular and the facilities are well maintained. The utilities provided are generous and useful and well thought out. I wish we booked a longer stay to really enjoy the cottage and just be comfortable. The beds are also provided with heater blanket underneath the cover which is a nice detail in case it gets cold. Negative: Some complications with the insects and an unfortunate finding of a dead bird that got lost in the cottage but otherwise it was ok.

Tranquil and stunning property
Positive: A perfect cottage! Beautifully presented with lovely decor, it was stylish, comfortable, and cosy. The cottage felt like home. It had everything we needed and was exceptionally clean. Great shower and lovely bathroom. Heating was very good and we felt cosy upstairs and downstairs even though it was October. The location beside Loch Bay was idyllic. Only 35 mins or so to Portree and 10 mins from Dunvegan, Stein nevertheless had a feeling of being in another world. We loved the glorious sunsets and sunrises and the tranquility. Just beautiful! We slept very well and came home feeling relaxed. A perfect stay! Negative: Nothing. It was a stunning property and the hardest thing of all was having to leave it!

Booked on the same day as arrival. Communication was easy and instructions clear. The accommodation was delightful - warm, welcoming, clean, fire prepped. Basically it was ready to relax in to. The local Ship Inn offers excellent food and with veggie and vegan options. They also fitted us in without a reservation on the first night. Perhaps not so easily done during a busy time of year. No hesitation to rate the accommodation highly.

Beachcomber cottage is a charming and very well appointed accommodation within doors of 2 of the best restaurants Skye has to offer. The place was spotless, warm and very comfortable and the Waternish Peninsula area is both beautiful and a little less well trafficked part of the island. We would highly recommend both.

Perfect stay!
Beautiful cottage set right on the shore equipped with everything you could need for a perfect stay on Skye! We chose this beautiful place for a base to explore Neist, Storr, Quiraing and more as it was ideally located with most places 35-45 minutes away. Portree is also around a 30 minutes drive. The cottage itself was cosy, warm and spacious enough for 4 adults. The lounge and fireplace was welcomed after hiking around the island all day. We would highly recommend this place and would 100% stay again!

Best location , we couldn’t be happier. Amazing view and wonderful usable yard. All amenities we could want. We had so much fun here and will likely return. The cottage is close to a pier so we got to watch boats come and go as well as families sail and fish. Rise of tide was fun to watch as well. Local flora and fauna was amazing as were all the sheep about.. we at at both of the local restaurants and enjoyed them , unique and small ,local fish places. Shower was hot and water pressure was wonderful. Great place for morning walks, coffee out front on the bench. Love the the views from the road as we drove in and out. Check out local shops , especially Skyesyns. The tannery is at the top of the hill. So cool!

This cottage was very well set-up, for us- great heat (we were there in Feb.), well-equipped, nice furnishings, and overall very comfy. We enjoyed the coal fire in the living room very much! The location is wonderful, just across the little road from the loch, and also it was very quiet. We would have appreciated a notebook of instructions in addition to or instead of the video set-up, which was NOT so convenient for looking up answers to questions, (and also totally puzzling to us at the beginning), and we never did figure out the tv. Nevertheless, we would happily go back!

This is a great VRBO! The cottage is set within a row of traditional fishermen’s cottages. The historical old cottages, although outfitted with modern amenities, provide a perfect backdrop for the serene picture perfect setting. The sunsets here are truly breathtaking and just being here makes you exhale all stress. The private gated garden which goes to the waterfront is wonderful too. A wonderful surprise is being next door to a Michelin star restaurant (also residing in one of the fisherman’s cottages). We were lucky to be able to eat here (get reservations in advance..Loch Bay). The food was perfectly prepared and presented in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Also a couple doors down in another of the fisherman’s cottages is the Stein Inn which has the oldest pub in Skye with a great traditional pub atmosphere and good food/drink. The host, Cat, was great! We had one small issue at check-in but Cat was quick to respond and we were grateful! We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a fantastic stay at the Beachcomber Cottage. It is a beautiful cottage with modern appliances along with original architecture throughout the cottage itself. The two bedrooms are spacious and beds were comfortable. Water pressure was good and toiletries were provided along with plenty of towels. The location is spectacular with views out over Loch Bay from the private garden.

The property is very well kept, well-appointed dishes and appliances, bathroom is nice, bedrooms are nice. But this note is particularly for Americans traveling in summer: The house has no A/C nor does it have any fans. This is not an issue in other seasons, but if you catch a summer that is warmer than usual (increasingly frequent in Scotland now), then it could be an issue. House owners there have not yet adapted to this fact, so this means almost no place has A/C or fans to assist with air movement. Bring your own portable battery powered fan. Secondly, the village of Stein is very remote by most American standards. Be prepared to navigate single track roads to get there, and bring in food at least for breakfast: there are 2 restaurants in Stein, but no store. Closest stores are in Portree or Dunvegan. It's a beautiful place and we enjoyed our time there; we just needed a fan...

Friends and I stayed at the Beachcomber for 3 nights of a 2 week trip in Scotland. Honestly, I would have been happy to spend the whole 2 weeks here. The stay was one of the highlights of the trip with the charming location, local history, surprising restaurant choices from historic inn to Michelin Star and gift shop with items by local artists. The cottage was over the top charming as well, with equipped kitchen, lots of info on surrounding area, clean, comfortable, can't say enough good things. I will happily return if possible!

The garden is lovely, 2 tremendously delicious dinner locations just next door and the cottage with all needed in between. Only the cold kitchen/sitting area with a noisy fridge were disturbing (so bring slippers and enjoy eating outdoor if possible).

Positive: The cottage was in a lovely hamlet. Parking wasn't a problem, and the view was wonderful. We appreciated the cottage being so snug and solid during a storm. Comfortable beds (electric blankets were a lovely touch) and plenty of space for our family of 3. Kitchen had everything we needed and the whole home was very clean. Recommend the Inn for a meal (remember to book) and make sure you have the necessities before you get there. I knew it was isolated beforehand, so I was prepared. We appreciated the TV apps and being able to access Disney+ and Netflix for the storm was welcomed by our 10 year old. I particularly liked the products available in the bathroom and kitchen (soaps and creams) . Thoughtful touches along with a cold bottle of wine waiting for us when we checked in. Negative: Not to do with the cottage, but as a side note: we were not expecting so much of the island to be closed on Sunday/Monday. So if you are planning for a long weekend like us, it's best to buy more groceries than you think you need, so you don't get caught out 😉
